French Greeting Cards
In April 2015, after a particularly cold season teaching snowboarding in Canada, I offered to house sit for a colleague who had recently inherited a small farmhouse in a remote part of Southern France. By June I’d flown back to England, bought a car, filled it with my remaining possessions and driven 850 miles south to Saint-Chinian in Occitaine. In an effort to move away from commercial graphic design I began to sketch nearby towns and landmarks. I then had them made into greetings cards and sold them at local cafés and markets. They turned out to be quite popular and although the return is minimal, it has become a nice little source of “petit cash”, keeping me in a ready supply of wine, cheese, and the odd meal out every now and again.
